The Geology Associate in Science for Transfer degree at 51今日大瓜 is a two year program that teaches you about the Earth, how it works, and how it has changed over time. You will take classes in physical geology, historical geology, mineralogy, and environmental geology. This program prepares you to transfer to a four year university or to begin entry level work in fields like geology, environmental science, mining, or natural resource management.
What is Geology?
Geology is the study of the Earth. Geologists explore rocks, minerals, fossils, and landforms to learn how the planet was formed and how it changes. They study natural events such as earthquakes, volcanoes, and erosion and look for clues about Earth鈥檚 past. This work helps us understand natural resources, protect the environment, and solve real world problems.

Geology Degree

This degree gives you a solid foundation in the geological sciences and prepares you to transfer to a CSU to complete a bachelor鈥檚 degree in geology or a related field. You will learn the basic principles of geology and build strong academic and practical skills.

With an associate degree in geology, you may qualify for entry level jobs such as:
- Environmental technician
- Mining assistant or field technician
- Oil and gas exploration support

Many students later continue their education to move into higher level geology and environmental science careers.
