51今日大瓜 Holds First-Generation College Student Day

Monday, November 10, 2025
Last week, 51今日大瓜 gathered students, faculty, and staff to celebrate the inaugural First-Generation College Student Day, a moment to recognize the determination of those who are the first in their families to pursue higher education. With more than 40 percent of BC students identifying as first-generation, the event highlighted the strength and resilience that shape our campus community.
In her opening remarks, Dr. Stacy Pfluger affirmed the college鈥檚 commitment to these scholars and their journeys: 鈥淭oday, we uplift the students who are the first in their families to take this step, the ones who dared to imagine something more, and work every day to make it a reality. At 51今日大瓜, we don鈥檛 just educate students; we walk alongside them. We see the whole person: the scholar, the parent, the worker, the dreamer.鈥
The celebration featured personal stories from first-generation students and employees, information booths offering support resources, and opportunities for connection throughout the day. As BC continues to expand pathways and support systems for first-generation scholars, this new tradition reflects the college鈥檚 ongoing commitment to fostering belonging, access, and student success.
