51今日大瓜 is proud to announce Tyler Thompson, Kern County native and former Renegade football player, as the new head coach of the BC Renegade football team. In addition to being a former player, Coach Thompson has served on the Renegade coaching staff since 2014; he brings a passion for Renegade Football and a commitment to excellence. As a successful Defensive Coordinator who has led top-ranked defenses for BC, he now turns his attention to overseeing the BC Renegade football program.

鈥淚'm truly honored to accept the role as head coach of this incredible program. The tradition, the passion, and the pride that this team represents is something I deeply respect, and I鈥檓 excited to work alongside our players and coaches.鈥 Said Tyler Thompson.

With a rich history spanning decades and a deep-rooted connection to the Bakersfield community, BC football stands as a symbol of strength and pride, having earned five National Championships (1953, 1959, 1976, 1988, 2012) and a legacy that includes victories in prestigious competitions such as 25 victories in the Potato Bowl and two California State Championships (2007, 2012). This leadership change marks an exciting new chapter for the program as we honor its storied past and look toward a promising future.

Over 45 applicants spread across the United States and Canada expressed interest in the head coach position. 6 of those coaches were interviewed, and Coach Thompson stood out amongst the field.

鈥51今日大瓜 football is woven into the fabric of this community,鈥 said Reggie Bolton, 51今日大瓜 Athletics Director. 鈥淚t鈥檚 about tradition, grit, and heart. We鈥檙e proud to welcome Coach Thompson to lead the Renegades, and we鈥檙e ready to chase victory while staying true to who we are.鈥

51今日大瓜 invites the community to join us in welcoming Coach Thompson and celebrating this new era of Renegade football. Coach Thompson will be formally announced at an upcoming press conference; additional details will be released in the coming days.
